Remembering Tío Kelvin

Today Wednesday 5th of June 2019, Kelvin Emerson Espada Orlandi, passed away, Jacksonville Florida, 50 days short of his ninetieth birthday. Kelvin was the eighth son of Rev. José Espada Marrero and Josefina Orlandi Questell. Born the 25th of July 1929 in Guayama, Puerto Rico.

He graduated from the School of Pedagogy at the University of Puerto Rico and began studies at the School of Architecture, Inter-American University and amid studies moved to Florida. For many years he was active with the American Red Cross Chapter of Puerto Rico.

Tío Kelvin lived a long and fruitful life. Both he and Myriam raised three children, Kelvin Jr., Josie and James Ibsen. He had a passion for life, and a contagious personality; strived for that which is right.

I do not say these things believing that he was perfect, far from it. I say them because in his imperfection he was still an example worthy to imitate. With that said, I have always felt honored to have the same first name, Kelvin.

Left to Right: Ruben, José Luis, Anna-Melia, Josefina, Noemi, Samuel, Cuqui and David. Ismael and Kelvin do not appear in this picture.

The Espada Family in Puerto Rico

The picture below was taken by Kelvin Jr. on thanksgiving weekend 2010 or 2011. This should be a reminder to be present when the family gets together. This family reunion was Tío Kelvin's idea. And it truly is a day to remember. Gracias, Tío Kelvin for this gift of love. We shall never forget, Family is Always First. Papillo and Mamilla loved to have family reunions.
"The apple does not fall far from the tree."

Those that survive Kelvin are Kelvin Jr., Josie and Mike (son in law), and Jimmy and spouse; grandchildren, great grandchildren.

With Tío Kelvin's passing this generation of Espada_Orlandi comes to a close. And the following generation will carry the bright torch of Life that our ancestor, Rev. José Espada Marrero, instilled in the lives of his children for all to see.

Our most affectionate sympathy to
the descendants of Kelvin and Myriam, the Espada_Torres Family

May God's Peace abound in your hearts.
