My father ...I guess it runs in the Morales Family. My father Norman Morales passed away and left the money ($52,000)in one of his sons (my half brother). He remained quiet and I found out later. We didn't speak for probably 20 years, we never connected but his daughter found me & my other half sister (from another mother) - and connected us. I went back to PR and connected with him and also forgave him. My other sister still doesn't talk to him but I am working on it. The Lord has taken care of that incident, he suffered a lot and he looks so old... and suffered so much. I tell him - I love him, no matter what and when things became really bad in Puerto Rico, I sent him money. How ironic.... We need more stories, short vignettes of the people in Puerto Rico. The history is not written, a lot of verbal stories are told. I will soon write a story of my Great Grandparents.... I will start it in a Blog just like yours. Each week after service I would meet her at the coffee hour where she would always have some words of encouragement. (This went on for some 40 years until she was no longer able to attend services. But I know she would be home praying, and I prayed for her each week.)

A few years later when I entered college, she encouraged me to study hard - to study the Bible and secretarial in hopes that the Lord would send me to come back to work at the radio station. The Lord had other plans though, but we always kept in contact.

She was there on my wedding day and gave me a wonderful plaque with verses from the Bible about the family. To this day, Kelvin and I have it hanging in our bedroom.

And when we went to adopt our children, she and her husband encouraged us - they helped us cut through some red tape and I distinctly remember Ruth telling me "now Linda, make sure you teach your children scripture and get them to memorize those verses!"

When we began ministering in Church she told my husband to teach the Bible and win souls. She encouraged me in the Women's Ministry to continue dong the work of the Lord. She always encouraged us to train up our kids first.

Much later on, she encouraged my sad heart when my parents moved back to the states and told me to be the strong one in the Lord!

Ruth continued to shine for the Lord and to be His vessel even after health problems, surgery and what she called "hospital appointments". Ruth's one desire was to be a witness to the Lord. She truly lived for One - our Lord Jesus Christ!

Her voice got weaker, but she remained strong in the Lord. It was always such a blessing to hear her on the radio. She surprised me by attending a small gathering of friends for my 50th birthday a few years back! She was always such an example for me, in her love for the Lord and in her spirit of encouragement to live for Him!

When she reached 80 she continued to encourage me by sending hand written notes at the end of each newsletter I received from the radio station. And although she couldn't get to the office every day, I'd hear that when she did, she was such a blessing to everyone, and even pastors went away uplifted after visits with her!

So it is no little thing that I count it a privilege to have known Ruth and to have her as a friend. I thank the Lord that just last week I was able to talk with her by speaker phone, she told me that she called out for me, and thanked me for all my little notes and cards and for being her forever prayer partner throughout the years.

I love you, Ruth, and I will miss you dearly, and I look forward to that bright and shinning morn when we will once again meet in that sweet by and by!

With much love, Linda K. I did not know you had posted another post and was pleasantly surprised when I just "happened" to open it! I loved the stories of how your Abuelo "approved" the young ladies his grandsons were dating and who eventually became their wives. It brought tears to my eyes and I wished I had had the privilege of meeting him. But you and I began to date much later than that.. and I thank God for bringing me into your family: the Morales Clan. It has been a privilege, also, to be involved with you in searching your genealogy roots, visiting government offices, cemeteries, old churches, barrios and communities where your family lived, talking to different ones and hearing so many stories of who the Morales family is! It is my joy to be a part of you. I pray that these stories will continue to flourish and be a treasure to behold in the hearts of our children and grandchildren also. As you know, last month we celebrated 35 years of marriage and again I say "I do." Te quiero mucho. Yes, that was very much like him to pickup his cuatro (musical instrument native to Puerto Rico)and walk all over Puerto Nuevo and adjacent urbanization's, visiting relatives or serenading the ladies. I remember him affectionately as he used to visit my grandmother, always arriving with his cuatro in hand and with a serenade. I was fortunate to see that twice.Elbahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02061877199510660929noreply@blogger.com
